The Grimsby College magazine analysis.

The Grimsby college magazine: The Grimsby College magazine has a a bright coloured background, which is eye-catching, thus this will pull the reader in to look at the front cover.
Also on the front cover there are two animated people which also grab the reader’s attention, and show that there are students at the college.
On the front page there is a big, bold logo of the school this also grabs the attention of the reader, also it shows that the college is linked with this magazine.

On the front page there are 3 sub titles, in the form of rhetorical questions, this gives a taste of what is inside of the magazine, which will make the reader want to read on, and find out the answer to the questions

At the bottom of the page there is another title, "word on the street" this gives the impression that the magazine has all of the gossip from around the college, this will make people want to read on into the magazine to find out more.

The colours used on the front cover are blue and white, blue is the colour of the sky and sea, it is often associated with depth, trust. This could be used to show the reader that the magazine has depth and you can trust it.
The colour white associated with light, this could be used to show the reader that the magazine is a light read, and you can find out depth into different subjects but in a light read.

The subtitle “not just a pretty face” and then the bit of information on it give “the model life of a glamorous Grimsby Institute student” this is an interesting article in the magazine, which is added to the front page to give the reader a hint to what is in the magazine, “not just a pretty face” shows us that there is a dark side behind the model which we are told about.
Furthermore, “not just” gives us the idea that the “model” has done something wrong, this makes the reader think about what she has done, which also makes the reader want to read on.

The other subtitle “Booze, Drugs and life” and the information given, “what planet are you on anyway” this makes the reader think about “Booze, drugs and life” and what bad things they are involved in, this will make the reader think that there is lots of gossip to be heard from this article.
Furthermore, “what planet are you on anyway” is something said to a person when they do something out of the normal, so this also gives the reader the idea that there is something to find out about somebody, that they and other people wouldn’t normally do. 

Also the other subtitle “Shang high surprise” and the information given “a Grimsby Institute tutor's experience of China” this gives the reader another interesting article to read, this subtitle and information makes the reader think about china and a Grimsby Institute tutor in china and what happened to him/her there.

The Grimsby Magazine’s content page

The contents page in the magazine has more than just the contents of the magazine; it has other information about the magazine in it and other information about the school also.

The colours used in the contents page are bright colours and the normal background colours of the photos, the bright colours attracted the readers to look more into the contents page, this also get the readers to read more into the magazine.

Also in the contents page there is other information than just what the contents of the magazine is, there is information on events that the college is related with. This would make people want to read more into the magazine as they would want to find out more information about the events that are up coming.

There is a small article with information about the Grimsby Institute School leavers courses, with this there is a picture, the picture is in black and white, this is to show that the picture is a memory, that the leavers are old and moving on.

Also on the contents page, there is the information about the contents of what is in the magazine, with the titles of the pages and the number that they are on, there are small picture which are linked to some of the articles in the magazine, this will give the reader a brief idea of what is on the page.

Also on the contents page there is some brief information about what the GX magazine is about and what its aim are, it also has some information about if you want to add contributions on what the reader wants to read about in the magazine and what should be shown in it, also if you have any feedback about the magazine or any idea’s, suggestions and a number to contact them on.

The contents page has everything that all normal contents pages should have, but it also have some extra useful bits and pieces on the contents page that the reader might be interested in.
